Climate Extremes/making a difference

posted in: Uncategorized | 0

The climate extremes are on the increase. Every day we are hearing of floods and fires all over the world. Where water is lacking, nothing falls from the sky. Where there is too much water, it keeps coming. These are signs of climate change.

It is very easy to feel hopeless about the climate. However, every little bit helps. Simple things like conserving water (why not xeriscape the yard?) to ward against future drought and conserve water. Why not buy things second hand when you can? This helps keep the greenhouse gases from manufacturing from entering the atmosphere. Just the simple act of recycling helps so much. I think it is also important to support any companies that are making strides in the environmental arena. I recently learned that Walmart started a program in 2010 to aim for zero greenhouse gas emissions across global operations by 2040. A company that size makes a huge impact for the entire world. So, let’s support Walmart. And look for other organizations that are making strides. American Express and Apple both have climate goals. We vote with our dollars!
